Route 66
Caravan Road Log:
|
Central Avenue cuts Albuquerque in half, this is Route 66 and Albuquerque's vintage "Motel Row." A trip down Central Ave. at night is a trip back through time. Albuquerque boosts some of the neatest old neons as can be seen from these photographs. Kevin and I had been planning this photo expedition for some time and we weren't disappointed. It was really great to finally stand in front of these neons and absorb the feeling of yesteryear on the Mother Road. |

The Dog House |
||||
The Dog House is a Route 66 institution in Albuquerque. This is the second structure, the first was located a few blocks east on Route 66. The new building was built here in the 1960s and served Route 66 travelers for decades. The animated neon appears to be the original from the first building, circa 1950s. | ||||
This neon dog wags its tail and eats the hot dogs. I guess you'll have to see it to believe it. |
